Echoes on a Wheel
Echoes On A Wheel is a book of poetry and illustrations I have collected over a period of 10 years. Starting from the early age of 18 and reaching onto the full brinks of adulthood, the poetry is laid out in chronological order and divided into 3 chapters: The Flood, The Desert and Water (Attempts). Many of the book’s writings are introspective and revolve around themes like finding one’s identity, looking at nature as a reference point, the notion of time passing, and finding spirituality in a fast-paced digitalized world. The collection is also all joined together by a constant analogy with water as a purifying element in every step of the way. In short, it might be considered a love letter from one person to water.
The mood that I wanted to convey in the photography is that of nature coming through the urban layers. I was inspired by the bricks of granite and the geometry of the sidewalks in Beirut, drawing from their symmetry to create a grid line to place the book, and the presence of the little green plants growing through the cracks made the perfect additional element as a form of "shout out" and to show admiration. A special thank you to Catruc Eugeniu for the help with photo retouching.
